We categorize these motors into (3) generations, though some people may differently, we feel this is the most descriptive and easiest way to differentiate the different sub-models of these engines

– Gen 2 = Single Exit Exhaust Port Cylinder Heads, ROUND INTAKE PORTS, Single Vtec

– Gen 3 = Single Exit Exhaust Port Cylinder Heads, OVAL INTAKE PORTS, Single or Dual Vtec, VCM

That is really a subjective answer, as the overall direction of a build is up to the customer. Some will want a Naturally Aspirated setup, where some want big power such as Turbo, SuperChargers or Nitrous. Right now all the performance parts we offer ( http://halferlandperformance-com.3dcartstores.com/ ) tailor to all of those builds, as we aim to optimize and increase the airflow of the motor (with our J32a3 Dynoing at 316whp/262wtq on a daily driven motor). Our parts are essentially heart to any engine, which in sum is simply an vacuum pump. This means more air can be pulled through, more fuel that can be injected, which then = MORE POWER. The J-Series engine has been modded and talked about for quite some time now (but still lacks much aftermarket support, we are hoping to change that). There are two great website forums we suggest taking a look at to get an overall feel for the motor and potentially which direction you would like to take.

As with both websites, it’s best to make an account and USE THE SEARCH BUTTON/BOX!. Use a few different phrases to search out your topic and both websites will lead you to great knowledge.

The first website which is more orientated around Performance is https://www.v6performance.net/ . It touches on just about everything from simple Intake filter mods, to full our engine swaps, Frankenstein builds and is mainly more around the Honda Accord Platform (still J-Series).

The second website is https://acurazine.com/forums/. This website forum relates more to the Acura TL platform but again is still the J-Series. It generally has more Aesthetics (looks), with Performance topics spread about, but still abundant.
